I work as a freelance researcher, lecturer and graphic designer. Here are some of the services I offer. Feel free to contact me for further information.
Workshops, seminars and lectures
The following workshops were conceptualized for university and PhD students as well as other researchers and typically last 8 hours. I have frequently adapted their length and scope, so they could range from lecture impulses to semester-long seminars.

Citizen science means collaborating with people without a formal scientific education to answer novel research questions. This approach can also increase the scientific literacy of participants or empower them to become active community scientists. In this workshop we will explore benefits and hopes associated with collaborative research practices, navigate some areas of tension (for example related to data quality and science communication), and work on a prototype of a citizen science project for your field of research.

Graphics and visualizations are an important communication tool in science, not only to enrich scientific articles or posters, but to effectively communicate research to audiences outside academia. In this workshop we will learn how to synthesize research thought processes into sketches, work with the powerful and open source software Inkscape to create visually appealing vector graphics, address licensing and copyright issues of graphics, and draw a science outreach postcard for colleagues and friends.

Academia can be a challenging work environment. Meaningful tasks requiring calm and deep work phases, like advancing with a research paper, often get drowned in noise: emails, social media, urgent side tasks and other “volunteering obligations”. In this workshop we will leave to do lists behind and employ strategies to find out what is important to your work as a researcher, identify distracting inboxes, implement weekly recaps of work done (and not done), and get to know the Zettelkasten (a personal knowledge management system). You might even learn to say no once in a while … (no promises).
Consultancy for and co-development of research projects
I have advised and collaborated with researchers, research working groups and research project coordinators to include aspects of open science, citizen science and science communication within their initiatives or broader research agenda, for example during grant applications or project implementation and evaluation. This took place in the form of individual workshops and short consultancy meetings or extended to longer-term co-development sessions and guidance through advisory board positions.
